SPOTLIGHT
ON LANGUAGE ARTS…
This week, we are wrapping up the novel, The
Chocolate Touch.
The kids participate in discussions about
the book complete study guides to accompany each
chapter. The
students are also quizzed after about 4 chapters.
The study guides will come home the night
before a quiz to study from.
The final test will be on Wednesday.
There
will be spelling words to go with the chapters of The
Chocolate Touch that we are reading.
The spelling words are on the back of this
newsletter. This
list, along with homework activities to do each
night will also be coming home on a separate
sheet.
The homework activities are due by Friday.
In Grammar, we will be reviewing past
concepts. We
will also be working on an expository essay on how
to build a snowman.
SPOTLIGHT
ON MATH…
This
week, we are continuing to study time.
The kids have already been taught and or
reviewed telling time to the minute, and how to
determine A.M. and P.M.
The kids also learned that there are
different ways to say the time.
For example, if the time is 1:30 P.M., it
can also be read as half past one or 30 minutes
past one. The
students also learned about elapsed time, or time
that has occurred or will occur.
This is often a difficult concept for kids
to grasp. This
week, we will be learning more about using
calendars. Please
review the homework with your child on this topic.
They will also be learning about how to
read a schedule and use a calendar to determine
elapsed time.
The test will be Thursday.
SPOTLIGHT
ON SOCIAL STUDIES…
Last week, we learned more about our
National Government.
The kids were taught about the Executive,
Legislative and Judicial branches.
They completed a product to display what
they learned.
The worksheets we completed with this
chapter will be coming home this week (Monday).
The book
and final study guide will be coming home on
Tuesday. The test will be on Wednesday.
