ARTS NEWS…
This
week’s theme in reading is Wild Weather.
The kids will be reading a nonfiction
article called “Super Storms”.
The vocabulary words that we will be
discussing this week are violent, beware, prevent,
uprooted, destroy and grasslands.
We will be focusing on making and
confirming predictions as we read to help us
understand the text.
In
Grammar, we will be working on combining subjects
and predicates.
MATH NEWS…
This
week, the kids will be introduced to basic
geometry. We
will also be continuing to practice addition with
regrouping. Your
child will be coming home with geometry and
addition homework.
Please continue to practice
addition facts with your child.
The more they practice their addition
facts, the more accurate they will be!
SOCIAL
STUDIES NEWS…
This
week, we will be presenting our President Reports.
The kids reports will also be displayed in
a Presidential timeline in the primary hallway.
I hope that the kids not only learned a lot
about the president that they researched, but had
fun doing so!
Also,
last week, the kids worked hard in small groups to
choose an animal to campaign for as our class
mascot. All
the groups did a great job presenting their
candidates.
After conducting a mock election,
the votes have been tallied and the new
Room 16 class mascot is…the LEOPARD!
Congratulations to the Leopards!

BUZZWORTHY
NEWS & REMINDERS…
Each
day your child records the color of his/her
“Paws-itively Perfect” behavior card.
Green indicates that your child successfully followed class
and school rules for the day.
Yellow
indicates that your child was given a verbal
warning, but continued to break a class or school
rule. He/she
also must miss one recess.
Red
indicates that your child was given more than one
verbal warning and had continued to break class
and/or school rules.
He/she also misses 2 recesses.
Please discuss your child’s card color
each night and sign his/her Wildcat Assignment
book. If
your child had a yellow or red card, discuss the
problem and ways to improve his/her behavior.
BABY NEWS…
As
you may know the due date for our baby is quickly
approaching:
March 1st!
After the birth of the baby, I will be
taking 12 weeks of maternity leave to be home with
our new infant.
I am planning on coming back to the
classroom in mid-May.
Mrs. Schmidt is scheduled to be my
long-term maternity leave sub. Although I know that I will enjoy my time off with my
precious new little one, know that I will
miss my students (your children) terribly and will
keep in contact with them and will be in constant
communication with the substitute.
If you should have any questions, please do
not hesitate to contact the substitute at my
extension at school.
I hope that the children have a smooth
transition and continue to thrive while I am away. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
