PE Department Policies and Procedures

 

Classroom Rules

 

  1. Must wear proper uniform, socks and tennis shoes (sweats if necessary).
  2. No writing on uniform (Name Only).
  3. Do not cut the sleeves out of uniform shirts.
  4. Always lock your locker with the lock that is assigned to you.  Place all possessions in your locker.  YOU are responsible for your valuables, not the instructor. 
  5. Be in your assigned location no later than 5 minutes after the tardy bell rings.  At the end of class you will wait in the locker room until bell rings
  6. Follow directions the first time you are told.
  7. Participate to the best of your ability.
  8. Respect the schools property
    1. Leave all equipment alone until the instructor gives permission to use it.
    2. Follow instructions on safe and proper use of equipment.
  9. Respect Others
    1. Practice good hygiene.
    2. Treat other the way you want to be treated.
    3. Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself.  Horseplay causes accidents and will not be tolerated
    4. Encourage others to participate.  Give positive feedback to others. 
    5. No profanity, put downs or other verbal abuse.
    6. Listen to the instructor or other assigned person is presenting information.
  10. DO NOT BRING FOOD, CANDY, DRINKS TO CLASS (including locker room, gym, or outdoors)
  11. Please take care of all miscellaneous matters BEFORE class.  Locker rooms are locked during class and no one is allowed in them during class.

 

Consequences

  1. Verbal Warning
  2. Extra Conditioning
  3. Referred to Dean

SEVERE OFFENSE—Sent to Dean Immediately.

 

Safety

REPORT ALL INJURIES TO INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

An accident report must be completed and placed on file in the Office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Medical

A student may be excused from PE, ONLY if a note from a parent/guardian is brought to the instructor prior to class.  The note must include the date, reason for the excuse, parent signature and a phone number where a parent/guardian can be reached.  The note will be honored for ONE DAY only.  The student is still required to dress even with a parent’s note and may be required to complete an alternate assignment related to PE.  A doctor’s excuse is required after two days.  If a doctor’s note is not received, the student will be required to participate. 

 

Grading

 

Grades are rewarded by the following standards:

  • Effort, enthusiasm, cooperation and sportsmanship
  • Regular participation in the activities and sports
  • ATTITUDE and CONDUCT displayed in class and in locker room
  • Progress shown in physical fitness skill
  • Written Quizzes and Tests

 

**If a student does not have his/her uniform, he/she MUST rent one.  If the student refuses to rent a uniform, he/she WILL BE REFERRED TO OFFICE.  This will affect his/her grade and be noted as a Level 2 offense.  In which disciplinary action will be taken.

 

**If a student has to rent a uniform, it will affect their grade and be noted as a Level 1 offense.  After three times disciplinary action will be taken.

Wolcott Physical Education

1st  Semester Activities

 

 

K-2nd grade

¬     We have been working on locomotor skills, catching/throwing skills and listening and direction following skills.

¬     We have been incorporating all these skills in a variety of low-organized games.

 

3rd-4th grade

¬     We have been developing a fitness foundation.  Each day we go through a variety of stretches and basic calisthenics.  We have also been working on catching/throwing skills.

¬     We have been developing teamwork and sportsmanship in a variety of low- organized and team games.

 

5th-8th grade

¬     We have a stretching and exercise routine we do each day focused on basic fitness principles.

¬     We have been working on positive reinforcement, teamwork and sportsmanship in team games.  We have 2-3 week units on the following activities: soccer, softball, flag football, flickerball, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey and fitness testing.
