Mrs. McGrath’s 3rd Grade
It’s
hard to believe the school year is half over!!
The 3rd graders have settled in nicely and
I’ve enjoyed getting to know each of them.
READING
We continue to work in our regular Reading series.
We will soon finish the first half of the series.
In a few weeks, we will be reading our first novel
called The Chocolate Touch.
GRAMMAR/ SPELLING
In Grammar we have spent the last few weeks learning about
verb tenses and reviewing correct sentence punctuation. The children continue to do well on their Spelling tests and
enjoy preparing for them with games such as Sparkle and Hang
Man.
MATH
We have begun working on multiplication facts.
I have asked the class to memorize the 1’s, 2’s,
3’s, and 5’s facts. Each
child has made a set of flash cards to study these facts. We will continue to review addition and subtraction facts as
well.
SCIENCE
We are learning about living things, the characteristics of
them and how they are alike and different.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We are talking about our government and the branches that
it is made up of. In
the next month, we will be starting to work on our state
floats. The children are looking forward to this project. The
work on the floats will be done at home.
The grand finale will be the State Float Parade!
*Please make sure to sign the assignment book each night as well
as the behavior calendar.
