Looking
Ahead to November &December
Mrs.
Pettiford's Plans for the Upcoming Months
In reading we are finishing up with Unit 2 in the textbook. Skills
we will have covered are fact and opinion,
summarizing, context clues, andcomprehension. Next we will be moving
on to another novel called Stone Fox.
Novel reading is a very good way of building
vocabulary to improve comprehension.
In science we are finishing up the
chapter on plants. Next we will move on to the
favorite chapter of all the children, animals.
I’m thinking seriously about another field
trip to Lincoln Park Zoo.
In English we are working on verbs and
will soon be writing another composition.
Also, the children are working very hard on a
book report in the form of a commercial.
In Math we are working on reading and
creating graphic organizers to display
numerical data. Next it will be on to
multiplication and division. It would be a
good idea for the children to start reviewing
their multiplication tables.
Please be sure to look at your child’s
assignment notebook. It is very important that
homework is done on a daily basis.
November is Thanksgiving month so please
have a wonderful Turkey Day and coming up
shortly after that will be Christmas. What a
busy time of the year.
As always, don’t forget to call me if
you have any questions or need anything
clarified. I am always happy to hear from
parents.
