I am happy to join the staff at Wolcott School as the Coordinator of Special Education services for the students.

 

I earned my bachelor’s degree in business education from Northern Illinois University, a masters degree in education from Chicago State University, and a second masters degree in educational administration from Governors State University.  For the past several years I have worked at the ECHO Joint Agreement as Principal of the Academy for Learning, Manager of the Division for Behavior Disordered and At-risk Students, and Manager of the Human Resources Department.

 

Coordinator of Special Education Services includes  :               

            -     working to help every child succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.      

-          collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students that strengthen connections between home and school.

-          providing special education services to students with special needs under IDEA.

 

 

4      Prevention Designing programs that address at-risk student needs, promote appreciation of diversity in the school community, or instruct on coping with peer pressure.

 

4      Consultation  With parents, teachers and administrators on child development and selection of positive behavioral strategies, effective instructional methodologies and curriculum approaches.

 

4      Assessment of academic skills and classroom learning environments. 

 

4      Education Through staff development on learning and behavior strategies, and parent education on such topics as family dynamics and peer relations.

 

4      Planning via evaluating the effectiveness of instructional approaches.

 

4      Health Care Provision Working with parents to access community services and developing school-community partnerships.
