This week was a short but very fun
week! We celebrated Read Across America, and read a lot of Dr. Seuss books.
To honor the famous children’s author, Read Across America coincides
with Doctor Seuss’s birthday. We
dyed green eggs so we could eat green eggs and ham at snack.
We made Doctor Seuss hats, shared our favorite Doctor Seuss books, and
played pin the green egg on the ham. To
top the wonderful day off, we sang happy birthday to Doctor Seuss with a Doctor
Seuss inspired cake! Yummy!! Throughout the week, the centers had numerous
Doctor Seuss activities. I would have to say our Read Across America was a great
success!

We are once again collecting spare
change with the help of the Thornton Police Department to help raise money for
the Special Olympics Torch Run. The
Torch run has more than 85,000 law enforcement officers carried the Flame of
Hope across 35 nations, raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics.
If you have any spare change any little bit will help.
You can send it to school with your child, and they can put the change we
have in a can in our class.
Now that the children are in kindergarten, they
do have homework. We
try to keep it simple for the children to do quickly but
also want it to help reinforce the concepts learning in
school. It
may be a good idea to keep a small art supply box at
home so your child can complete homework on time.
It would be a good idea to keep crayons, scissors
and some glue on hand in case the homework needs to be
colored or cut.
We are learning about rainbows in class
now so we are making rainbow art projects.
Your children all know the correct order of
colors the rainbow is seen in.
They can even sing you their color song!
Ask your child to sing the song to you.
In Art class, they are working on reading color
words so try to reinforce color words at home.
Our assessment was done on Friday, and
the children did a great job.
We did not have as many days this week to get a
lot of reviewing done but your children really stepped
up and worked hard this week.
We have a little saying in our class.
The children know that their brains are very
important and every time your child excels at something
in the class, we tell them to take their hand and kiss
it. Then,
we tell them to take that kiss and place it on their
head! The
children “kiss their smart, and beautiful brains!”
So, after this assessment, you better believe
they all were asked to kiss their brains!
With spring approaching, we are
anxiously awaiting to go outside and fly our kites,
watch our sunflower seeds grow, and look for clues
guiding us to the tricky leprechaun’s pot of gold!
Still, some of us feel the best part about spring
is the Easter Bonnet Parade, egg hunt, and spring
vacation! (Don’t forget to change your clocks on March
14th)
